Dove Hunting Gear
Shotgun
The Laguna Club recommends considering either a 12-gauge or 20-gauge over adn under or semi-automatic shotgun for your needs. Brands like Browning, Benelli and Beretta are known for their quality and reliability, making them excellent choices for both novice and experienced shooters alike. Whether you're hunting or at the range, these can enhance your experience and performance.
Apparel / Boots
For the Texas heat, we recommend opting for breathable shirts and lightweight pants to stay comfortable. However, many people find that shorts paired with snake boots are a practical choice as well. Stay cool and protected while enjoying great outdoors!
Shells
We recommend using 12 or 20ga high brass lead shot in size 2 3/4" 7.5 shot for your field hunting experience. This combination offers excellent performance, ensuring effective shots while maintaining compliance with hunting regulations. License
To enjoy your evening hunt, you'll need to equip yourself with a super combo license, which includes necessary hunting privileges. Additionally, make sure to obtain a Harvest Information Program (HIP) permit. These essentials will ensure you're compliant with regulations and ready for a successful hunt.
Cast and Blast - Dove Itinerary
DAY 1 – Arrival & Welcome
Afternoon – Arrive at the lodge, settle in, unpack.
Evening – Dinner served 7:00 – 9:00 PM depending on arrival.
DAY 2 – Half-Day Fishing & Dove Hunt
5:30 AM – Coffee & breakfast served at the lodge.
6:00 AM – Depart for half-day guided fly fishing.
12:30 PM – Return to lodge for lunch.
2:00 PM – Depart for dove fields.
Sunset – Hunt until dark.
8:30 PM – Dinner served back at the lodge.
DAY 3 – Half-Day Fishing & Dove Hunt
5:30 AM – Coffee & breakfast.
6:00 AM – Morning fly fishing trip.
12:30 PM – Return for lunch at the lodge.
2:00 PM – Leave for evening dove hunt.
Sunset – Hunt until dark.
8:30 PM – Dinner and stories at the lodge.
DAY 4 – Departure Day
Morning – Coffee, breakfast, and checkout.
Departure – Driving guests get directions. Flying guests are coordinated with for pickup.
